Endings Guide

MIO: Memories in Orbit features multiple endings. This guide will help you unlock all available endings, including the True Ending. You can get both endings in a single playthrough—after either ending, you load back to just before the final boss and can continue exploring or pursue the other ending.

Standard Ending

The standard ending is achieved by completing the main story. Seek out The Breath, The Blood, The Eye, and The Hand, and bring their Voices back to where The Spine is (at the start of the game). When you defeat The Hand, head back to the bridge above Shii at the starting area to face the first final boss. Defeat them to get Ending A; after the credits you are returned to the last save point you used before the boss.

This ending is accessible through normal story progression and doesn't require any special conditions.

True Ending (Secret Ending)

To unlock the True Ending, you must complete a series of specific steps. For the full sequence including The Wheel puzzle, Vault Shuttle, and platforming tips, see the Secrets & Easter Eggs guide.

Step 1: Find the Severed Fingertip

The fingertip is in the pit beneath the Vaults, not in the Lab. Return to the Vaults to where The Hand first grabbed you and kicked you out, then drop into that pit and head far to the east to find it.

Step 2: Activate The Wheel in the Lab

From the Network Gate in the Lab (above where you fight The Hand), climb up to find The Wheel and a broken mechanical hand missing a fingertip. Use the Severed Fingertip here to repair the hand and activate The Wheel. Then solve the wheel puzzle (positions 0, 120, 240) to reach The Crucible—see Secrets for the full sequence.

Step 3: Complete The Crucible

After solving The Wheel puzzle, you gain access to The Crucible. Complete two very hard platforming challenges there to receive the final traversal ability, Flowing Steps.

Step 4: Reach The Library and Defeat Boss Shii

Use Flowing Steps to climb gloom water (e.g. the gloom waterfall in the Canopy, reached via the Bell Tower at the top of Haven). At the top you reach The Library; the elevator at the eastern end has three levels—the third triggers the secret final boss, Boss Shii. Defeat Shii to see the True Ending.

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • The True Ending path is more challenging than the standard ending; The Crucible platforming is very difficult.
  • Make sure you're well-equipped before attempting The Crucible.
  • Boss Shii is one of the most difficult encounters in the game.
  • You can get both endings in one playthrough—after either ending you load back before the boss.
