Endings Guide
MIO: Memories in Orbit has two main endings plus a rare secret variant of the true path known as the Harry ending. After either main ending, your save returns to just before the final boss, so you can pursue the other ending on the same file. The Harry ending has special conditions and can become unreachable if you interact with Shii during the run.
Standard Ending
The standard ending is achieved by completing the main story. Seek out The Breath, The Blood, The Eye, and The Hand, and bring their Voices back to where The Spine is (at the start of the game). When you defeat The Hand, head back to the bridge above Shii at the starting area to face the first final boss. Defeat them to get Ending A; after the credits you are returned to the last save point you used before the boss.
This ending is accessible through normal story progression and doesn't require any special conditions.
True Ending — Welcome Home
Also called the secret / Shii ending. Unlocks the "Welcome Home" trophy. Full Wheel puzzle detail lives in Secrets; Crucible prep tips are in How To — The Crucible.
Step 1: Find the Severed Fingertip
The fingertip is in the pit beneath the Vaults, not in the Lab. Return to the Vaults to where The Hand first grabbed you and kicked you out, then drop into that pit and head far to the east to find it.
Step 2: Activate The Wheel in the Lab
From the Network Gate in the Lab (above where you fight The Hand), climb up to find The Wheel and a broken mechanical hand missing a fingertip. Use the Severed Fingertip here to repair the hand and activate The Wheel. Then solve the wheel puzzle (positions 0, 120, 240) to reach The Crucible—see Secrets for the full sequence.
Step 3: Complete The Crucible
After solving The Wheel puzzle, you gain access to The Crucible. Complete two very hard platforming challenges there to receive the final traversal ability, Flowing Steps.
Step 4: Reach The Library and Defeat Boss Shii
Use Flowing Steps to climb gloom water (e.g. the gloom waterfall in the Canopy, reached via the Bell Tower at the top of Haven). At the top you reach The Library; the elevator at the eastern end has three levels—the third triggers the secret final boss, Boss Shii. Defeat Shii to see the True Ending.
⚠️ Important Notes:
- The True Ending path is more challenging than the standard ending; The Crucible platforming is very difficult.
- Make sure you're well-equipped before attempting The Crucible.
- Boss Shii is one of the most difficult encounters—consider Eroded Bosses.
- You can get both main endings in one playthrough—after either ending you load back before the boss.
- Note: The Library can also be reached with precise Striders climbing on Canopy's east wall (advanced / optional route).
Harry Ending (Secret Variant)
A hidden variation of the true-ending path, named after the NPC Harry. In a normal playthrough you can find Harry's inactive body in the Canopy. If you completely ignore Shii for the entire playthrough, Harry appears outside the Precious Samples Room in the Library instead of Shii.
How it works
- Reach the Library the same way as the True Ending (typically via Flowing Steps / Crucible, or the advanced Striders route).
- Because Shii never appeared as your guide/contact, Harry stands in at Precious Samples.
- You can enter the room without fighting the true final boss; the ending sequence otherwise mirrors Welcome Home.
Missable: Unlike the two main endings, the Harry ending can become unreachable if you engage with Shii during the run. Plan a dedicated playthrough if you specifically want this variant. Community wikis (e.g. mio.wiki.gg Endings) document the exact conditions.
Ending Comparison
| Aspect | Standard | True (Welcome Home) | Harry |
|---|---|---|---|
| Requirements | Main story / first final boss | Severed Fingertip → Wheel → Crucible → Library → defeat Shii | Reach Library while never engaging Shii |
| Final fight | Story final boss | Boss Shii | None (enter Precious Samples) |
| Same-file flexibility | Yes—reload before boss | Yes—reload before boss | Can be missable |
| Difficulty spike | Standard | High (Crucible + Shii) | High traversal, no final boss |
Tips for Unlocking Endings
- •Explore Thoroughly: The severed finger and other True Ending requirements are hidden in specific areas. Don't rush through the game.
- •Prepare for Boss Shii: Before attempting The Crucible, ensure you have optimal modifications and a well-configured Allocation Matrix.
- •Check Your Map: Use your map to identify unexplored areas where key items might be located.
- •No Missables (main endings): Standard and True Ending content can be finished on one save. The Harry ending is the exception—plan carefully.
- •Use Assists: Ground Healing for The Crucible; Eroded Bosses for Shii. Details on the Assists page.
